Scooby-Doo em Hollywood (PT-BR) (1979) Movie #10 Continuing my journey of watching or rewatching films and series and then making amateur reviews with it. This is the tenth film I've watched on this profile. I'm from 1996, I grew up watching Scooby-Doo, but it's been a while since I watched it, this film (or short?) is the first time I've watched it and what a bad film (unfortunately). The duration is 47 minutes, the shortest duration of the films I watched on this profile, and it seemed much longer, the film Coraline that I watched on this profile, has a duration of 100 minutes and flies by for me. Maybe I'm not old enough to like Scooby-Doo anymore? I believe I am, even for the reason that I love the first live-action of Hollywood's most beloved dog, but this film is really bad. I like to highlight cool parts or my favorite parts of films, but in this film in question, I can't highlight any. The Brazilian dubbing is good, as I remembered from Scooby-Doo with the eternal Orlando Drummond, but even that didn't save it. Previous Film: O Bicho Vai Pegar (PT-BR) (2006) Next Movie: Hop (2011) Film Watched on April 23, 2024. Rating: 3/10.

I actually remember seeing this animated movie of Scooby Doo as a special on Prime Time. I think ABC aired it on either a Saturday or a Sunday night in 1979 and I can't recall, but I think at the time, they were showing the Scooby Doo episodes of 1978 on Scooby's All Stars or maybe it was right before Scooby and Scrappy Doo aired that fall. Anyway, it's been so long since I've seen it, but from what I can recall, it was about Shaggy convincing Scooby that he is better than a Saturday morning TV star and should pursue a career as a movie star and being in spoofs of Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Saturday Night Fever, Superman, and more. Definitely 70's. And I believe that Shaggy and Scooby drove the Hollywood producers crazy trying to market themselves. Fred, Daphne, and Velma are in this special, but their roles are smaller. I guess that was a sign of things to come on future Saturday morning incarnations of Scooby Doo. I did find this on video and rented it a few years ago. Man did it bring back some lost memories. I recommend giving this movie a try just for kicks.

I liked the animation and story but I watch scooby doo to see the gang solve mysteries. Not to be a Hollywood star. Also Fred dalphne and Velma are barely in this.

The special begins with Scooby and Shaggy fed up with their Saturday morning lineup. As the special continues Scooby gets less and less sure about his new role after all of Shaggy's and Scooby's attempt for Scooby to get more famous fails. All of the Scooby Doo cast members from the Scooby Doo Show are back and are surprised about Scooby's decision. The special also spoofs several 70's films and television series like Happy Days, Sonny and Cher, Charles Angels, and an few more. An song was also sung by Frank (Fred), Pat (Velma), and Heather (Daphine) as they and eventually his fans miss Scooby. It was an team effort as Scooby decided to return to his own show. Overall, it wasn't bad but still, Unless you love Scooby don't watch it. Unless you want to. Oh by the way, In the spoofs, they should have the stars of the series they were spoofing to help out as well. Final Scooby Score: 8 out of 10 Final animation score: 6 out of 10

One, I remember this special. It aired on Sunday. I'm surprised to see it aired so close to Christmas tho. Two, it was awful. Three, the only reason I gave it a 2 rating is because I always remembered Scooby doing Sound of Music and he fell off the mountain when he started singing. I thought that was funny even 30 years ago. So what exactly was this? Clearly this is the missing link between the overhauling of the Scooby Doo format (which Mark Evanier, creator of Scrappy Doo, has said he felt had run its course) from Mystery sleuths to . . . . whatever was deemed better. Often resembling the old WB Porky Pig and Daffy Duck cartoons where Porky was going to go into movies, it is pretty much the same setup here, with Shaggy and Scooby. As others have noted, we are given various TV show and movie imitations, among them, Happy Days, Charlie's Angels (how does this one figure into the history of Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, which premiered about a year earlier?), Superman, Love Boat and clearly Donny & Marie (renamed Scooby and Cherie. She was obviously a merger of Marie Osmond, Cher and Charo, to an extent, but the female character was straight up Marie Osmond, especially as this was the same network of Donny and Marie). No, it was not good. It was pathetic. Scooby needs mysteries the same way mysteries will receive Scooby. When Scooby Doo did stray from its crime-solving on Saturday mornings, it merely ventured into Huckleberry Hound-HOkey Wolf territory (meeting witches

This was one of about barely 8 VHS I actually had in the 90s as a kid for some reason, and it was probably my introduction to this whole series oddly. Nothing but great memories and laughs at the absurdity of it all.
